CURVENY was held at Jacob Javits convention center this August 2014. J’attire team had a wonderful time showcasing in New York and meeting buyers and exhibitors from everywhere. Can’t wait for the next one!

Body Shape

Have you ever felt like buying a certain dress or shirt and finally decided not to so because you feel it might not flatter your body?  Personally, I always did until I worked in a lingerie store … I learned that we can definitely wear certain type of undergarments based on our body shape to create a more balanced silhouette underneath our outfit.  It’s like make up!  We can use mascara to enhance our lashes or bronzer to slim down our face.  The same concept applies to our undergarments.  

Let me share what I have observed. There are actually 4 types of body shape. 

Body Shape	The YESYES
Hourglass	Lucky girl!  The upper and bottom part of your body are proportioned. You can go out there and buy ANY type of bra or bottoms. Maybe a little bit of padding pushing up the girls a bit more up for a nicer cleavage will not hurt.
Apple shape    And   Ice cream cone shape   (although there is a slight difference in their shape, in terms of lingerie, I will combine them together)	Since the upper part is fuller compare to the bottom, I will suggest going with bottoms that have more frills.  Little boyshort will also be awesome.  As for bras, I will recommend balconette bras for the wider shoulder issue, the straps are far apart, so visually, it will make your shoulder smaller.  More structured brassiere is also a to-go thing.  The thicker band will ensure everything on the side is flat out, that everything is under the wire and is pushed to the front.  You will notice that you are slimmer with your clothes on.  A structure bra is actually good for every type of body.  See our previous post on thicker band brassieres.  Even soft cup bras can look stunning on you.  Guys love them!  Total Bonus!
Pear shape	The pear shape ladies have the opposite headache of the apple shape ladies.  You have to focus on adding more on the upper part of your body.  Padded bras to the rescue!  There are fit pants with waist control that can do magic.  They might not be the sexiest thing on Earth, but they do a really good job.  Wearing it underneath our clothing or under our wedding dress is perfect.  Who care as long as we look HOT with our clothes on, right?  You can just change back to a lacy set at night in the washroom.  If you have a very small cup size, soft cup bras might not be the most flattering item in your drawer.  Also, avoid frilly bottoms.
Brick shape , but I prefer calling it straight shape (because it sounds better and it will be used to describe MY body shape)	I feel your pain!  No matter how I lose weight, my waist just get slimmer from the side view, but not from the front view.  BUT, I found a little trick – CORSET!  I will recommend buying a black one where you can wear underneath your cardigan or any sheer top.  It will mold your body amazingly.  Fit wear cincher is also another option. I can give you more details on corset on my next post.  Bring on everything that can give us more shape: padded bra, boyshort, frilled bottoms…

How to take care of our precious bras/lingeries

Some of you might already know, but it is so VITAL that I strongly believe it worth mentioning it again: DON’T PUT YOUR BRAS IN THE DRYER!  It will kill our precious little bras, especially for the price we are paying for it, right?

Our bras are made with gentle fabrics such as lace.  By putting our bras in the dryer, the heat will damage the elasticity of the bras, and the wire can also be deformed during the tumble process. An image worth thousand words, let me try to illustrate it:

 It is always recommended to wash lingerie by hand in cool water with light detergent; however, if you must wash it in a washer, use a lingerie bag to keep the bra shape/form.

At last, we should store our precious bras in their original shape to preserve the cup for a better fit.

Let me share something with you!

I believe all ladies like me have an immense wardrobe collection; however, we must never neglect the essentials: the brassieres and the panties!  What we are wearing underneath is as important!  There are different type of bras and panties nowadays and each of them is as useful, depending on the outfit we wish to wear. It’s hard for me to restrict myself to a certain style, and I am sure this applies to everyone. Let’s discover together all the different options we have:

Panties!

1. Firstly, there is the classic BRIEF.  This bottom hugs the buttocks just in the right accentuating way and keeps everything in.  It rises to the waist to provide the flattering look of the stomach.
2. Bikini: This style is apparently the most preferred by women around the world.  It goes lower and it covers less the buttocks; therefore, we can wear them with a lower-cut pant/bottom.
3. Brazilian:  The coverage of the Brazilian style is between a bikini and a thong. This is my personal favorite.
4. Hipster:  Just like its name, this bottom wraps along the hip.  
5. Boyshort:  This style was actually derived from men’s briefs.  Extremely comfortable, I personally find them very cute and sassy with its boyish touch. It can be worn under everything, but I prefer wearing them underneath little skirts.
6. Control briefs: This style can ensure a slimmer look even after having an extra ice cream.  A lot of bridals opt to wear this underneath their dresses to maximize their hourglass silhouettes.
7. Thong: This style translates into sexy and playful.  This high cut underwear leaves your buttock exposed and provides a little more coverage than a G-string
8. Finally, G-String:  Naughty! Naughty! There is absolutely no coverage for your bum, just a narrow strip down.

Bras time!

1. Balconette: This bra offers less coverage and it pushes our “girls” up without bringing them together in the center.
2. Push-up: Hola cleavage!  The paddings of this bra provide an amazing lift enhancing wonderfully the cleavage.   
3. Convertible/Strapless: This is a multi-purposes bra, where you can alter and play with the bra straps to fit different style of tops and dresses.  You can also remove all the straps and voilà, no more problem with tube top dresses.
4. T-shirt bra: The cups are so smooth that they appear seamless under our t-shirt.
5. Soft cup: The cup is made from a thin layer of lace or mesh.  Totally sexy! I love wearing them during hot summer.
6. Wire free: You have no idea how obsessed I am with wire free bras.  Without the underwire, the support comes totally from the band.  You will feel extremely free and comfortable.
7. Plunge: This style plunges deeper allowing ladies to wear deep V tops.
8.  Full coverage: Extremely comfortable bras to be worn every day.  It wraps the whole breasts and provides bigger busted women a better support.
